Former Houston Astros general manager looking to buy a Liga MX club

Jeff Luhnow was the Houston Astros general manager, but during the 2020 Major League Soccer season he was fired due to his involvement in the team’s electronic sign-stealing scandal. Luhnow also worked alongside the creators of the Netflix show “Club de Cuervos” and now he is interested in buying a franchise in Mexico.

The Athletic first reported that Luhnow was first interested in buying a franchise in Major League Soccer, but now he is looking to acquire a Liga MX team. The former Astros GM learned that it is less expensive to buy a top flight club in Mexico – and he was born and raised in Mexico City.
