Almost a week after Argentina became two-time Copa América champions after defeating Colombia in extra-time with a superb goal from Lautaro Martinez, Inter Miami will pay tribute to their top player and current squad captain, Lionel Messi, for his role in the victory.
“Following medical evaluation it has been determined that Leo Messi is suffering from a right ankle ligament injury. The captain’s availability will be determined based on periodic evaluations and the evolution of his recovery,” the club said in a statement regarding the injury that is keeping him out of action, and Tata Martino has now assured that Messi will be evaluated week by week.

Inter Miami were able to play without their stars who left for the Copa América and it was solid management from Martino, who intelligently spread out the minutes through the squad that saw them remain at the top of the Eastern Conference. Miami are looking to get three vital points receiving Chicago Fire to be able to fully think about the upcoming Leagues Cup, where they will defend their title.
Through social media, Inter Miami have invited people to attend the game against Chicago Fire this Saturday, July 20, where they will play one last MLS game before Leagues Cup 2024.
